No, it's not the dirty side of Macross 7. Macross 7 Trash is the Macross 7 manga series, set in the middle of the Protodeviln war in AD 2046. Instead of being a manga version of the TV series, Macross 7 Trash instead features new characters, common citizens of City 7 caught up in events other than the war. Fire Bomber and the main characters of the TV series make brief cameos, but the majority of the series is devoted to several new main characters: SHIBA : An ace T-Crush player, a sport which is a combination of racing and hand-to-hand combat, requiring quick reflexes and incredible eye-hand coordination. MAHARA : A former Valkyrie pilot who someone wants dead for reasons unknown. ENIKAR : Shiba's girlfriend, with dreams of of becoming a superstar singer like Lynn Minmay. Macross 7 Trash takes a look at the series from an entirely different level, where Basara's songs are but a peripheral to the storyline and we find out what it really is like to live as just a regular citizen on City 7. The artwork, drawn by Haruhiko Mikimoto, is the same great art expected from any Macross series, and interesting developments keep the plot moving. Macross 7 Trash ran in Monthly Shounen A from 1995-1999 and is also published in 8 tankouban volumes. The eight covers for the collected Macross 7 Trash tankouban are pictured below:
